UNIVERSITY OF PRISHTINA
The University of Prishtina was established by the Law on the Establishment of the University of Prishtina, which was approved by the Assembly of the Socialist Province of Kosovo on 18 November 1969. The establishment of the University of Prishtina was a historic event for the people of Kosovo as well as for the entire Albanian nation. The founding Assembly of the University of Prishtina was held on February 13, 1970, and two days later, on February 15, 1970, the solemn assembly of the Assembly was held and this date was announced the University Day of Pristina. In the composition of the newly established University of Prishtina were faculties with their headquarters in Prishtina: Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Law and Economics, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine. Now the University of Prishtina has 17 faculties, of which 14 are academic faculties, and 3 are faculties of applied sciences. Meanwhile, with the entry into force of the University Statute, on July 9, 2004, the rights and responsibilities of the students and the staff of the Faculty of Teacher Education and the higher pedagogical schools were transferred to the Faculty of Education.
