ARAB AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Arab American University (AAUJ) is the first private Palestinian university, founded in year 2000, in a collaboration with California State University (CSU) in Stanislaus and Utah State University (USU) in Logan. CSU approved AAUJ’s first Curricula and gave the needed expertise to start the university, USU provided the faculty members and administrators to run the university in its first two years. AAUJ serves the educational needs of over 11,300 students by providing a dynamic learning atmosphere that inspires innovation and has a primarily focus on every student’s success.
AAUJ provides quality education for Palestinian and international students and aspires to be a leader in Palestinian higher education. AAUJ has made impressive strides towards the development of educational facilities and laboratories in a vibrant setting. It adopts a distinct, unique education system with a wide range of demand-based academic programs offering diversified education. The necessity-motivated programs are meant to acquaint graduates with the skills, qualifications and knowledge needed to develop independent thinking and entrepreneurship aptitudes in order to contribute to the overall, sustainable national development. SAINT-JOSEPH UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT

The Université Saint-Joseph, founded and administered by the Compagnie de Jésus, is a Lebanese private university founded in 1875, with Head Office in Beirut. The Lebanese state officially recognizes the university and the diplomas it grants in accord with the law organizing higher education in Lebanon.

USJ is a member of the Association of Arab Universities, the International Association of Universities, the Association of French speaking universities (AUPELF) the International Federation of Catholic Universities, the European Federation of Catholic Universities, the Association of Jesuit Institutions of Higher Learning in Europe and Lebanon and the Euro-Med University (Téthys).

Linked to over one hundred universities — Arab, European, American and Canadian — by accords for cooperation.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT

Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. A teaching-centered research university, AUB has around 800 instructional faculty and a student body of around 8,000 students. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, life-long learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

The University, which was granted institutional accreditation in June 2004 by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States and reaffirmed in June 2009, includes six faculties: Agricultural and Food Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, Health Sciences, Medicine (which includes the Rafic Hariri School of Nursing), and the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business.

AUB currently offers more than 120 programs leading to the bachelor’s, master’s, MD, and PhD degrees. The University became coeducational in 1922; its student body is 50 percent male and 50 percent female. The language of instruction is English (except for courses in the Arabic Department and other language courses).
The student faculty ratio is 11.2 to 1.

ALQUDS UNIVERSITY

Al-Quds University, founded in 1984, is a Palestinian university, and the only university in the world to be situated by a separation wall. The main campus of the University is located in Abu Dis with four further campuses in Jerusalem, Sheikh Jarrah, Beit Hanina and Rammalh (al-Bireh). AQU provides higher education and community services within the Jerusalem area as well as the neighboring towns, villages and refugee camps in the West Bank.

With over 13,000 students, AQU is wide reaching with members from all over the West Bank, including from the districts of Bethlehem, Hebron, Jenin, Jericho, Nablus, Ramallah, Tulkarem, and Qalqilia. With fifteen academic faculties including Arts, Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Qur’an and Islamic Studies and Engineering, AQU has huge academic diversity and offers something for everyone.

BETHLEHEM UNIVERSITY

Mission Statement

BIRZEIT UNIVERSITY

After nearly a century, what began as a small girls’ school in Birzeit town has become the most prestigious Palestinian university, transforming Palestinian higher education through its impact on community awareness, culture and resistance. Birzeit University has been a thorn in the side of the occupation, insisting on playing its role of enlightenment and creating a multicultural Palestinian society on the campus grounds. There, students and staff are able to dialogue and communicate, rejecting the occupation’s attempts to chaperone thought and culture.

In the 1970s, and despite the occupation, Birzeit became a university, blending Palestinian values and Arab culture with an openness to world cultures.

Birzeit University offered a great opportunity for all segments of Palestinian society to access higher education, in particular rural Palestinians and girls. The university campus has become a unique microcosm of Palestine, representing all layers of society: rural and urban, rich and poor, male and female, conservative and liberal. These different groups have been able to gather together in and atmosphere of freedom and respect for the opinion of the other. This marks Birzeit University’s uniqueness and originality.

UNIVERSITY OF HAIFA

Founded 1963 as University Institute of Haifa under an agreement between the municipal authorities of Haifa and the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Became an accredited autonomous institution 1972. Receives financial support from the government.

The University of Haifa, established in 1972, is an academic institution whose initial and central function is to carry out excellent academic teaching and research. The academic excellence is showcased in many various interdisciplinary and international programs and by means of collaborations with academic institutions around the world.

The University of Haifa is a developing and dynamic institution with a world-renowned reputation in many different fields of research, and it is the leading University in Israel in the fields of the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Welfare and Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Education and Management. The University was selected by the Council for Higher Education to lead the field of Marine Research as well as the field of Education in a Networked Society. The University offers 20 international academic programs in the English language which attract many excellent students from Israel and abroad.

The University is situated atop Mount Carmel, where Haifa’s southern boundary verges on the Carmel National Park which is one of the most beautiful places in Israel, and over 18,000 students study here for their undergraduate, graduate and doctoral Degrees.

Our faculty and student population is unique in its composition. We have the largest number of military and security personnel who acquire their education there alongside Jewish, Haredi and secular students, new immigrants, Arabs and Druze. TECHNION INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is a public research university in Haifa, Israel. Founded in 1912, Technion is the country’s oldest university. The institute offers degrees in science and engineering, and related fields such as architecture, medicine, industrial management and education. Although the official language of instruction at Technion is Hebrew, several undergraduate and graduate study programs and courses are taught in English through Technion International.
