TOKAI UNIVERSITY

Tokai University is a private university established in 1942. The Tokai University Educational System is one of the largest general education and research institutions in Japan. To seek mutual understading and global peace through the education of young scholars from around the world, we began accepting foreign students early on and have consistently promoted Japanese-language education. More than 30,000 students, 659 of them international, study at Tokai’s nine campuses.

TOKYO MEDICAL AND DENTAL UNIVERSITY

Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) is Japan’s only university with a graduate school of medical and dental sciences. The goals of TMDU are educating individuals going into medical professions, including doctors and dentists; creating systems for research studies in the medical care and life sciences fields; fostering the development of sophisticated experts in medical and research fields; and making contributions towards society and humanity through these efforts.

TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES

In 2012 Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) established two new undergraduate schools, the School of Language and Culture Studies and Culture Studies and the School of International and Area Studies, which allow students to study 14 world regions and 27 languages in those areas. The Graduate School of Global Studies and other affiliated organizations also feature international education and research. TUFS aims to become a leading educational and research center for area studies on a global level.

TOYO UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1887, Toyo University is a large-scale comprehensive university comprising 11 faculties and 44 departments, with approximately 30,000 undergraduate students enrolled at four campuses in and around central Tokyo. Standing at the forefront of Japan’s drive toward globalization in education, Toyo offers international students virtually unlimited opportunities to experience real Japanese culture, learn the Japanese language, and take academic courses in English while living in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

MANABA (ASASHINET, INC.)

manaba is a cloud-based collaborative learning system developed by ASAHI Net, Inc. and used by more than 200 educational programs globally. manaba fosters fruitful interaction among students, instructors, program officers and the surrounding learning community and allows them to store and share their work online. International educators implement manaba for the accumulation of learning evidence and artifacts, assessment of learning outcomes, and mutual learning and collaboration to enhance the quality of students’ international experiences.

SHOWA WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY

Showa Women’s University (SWU) offers a wide range of programs and courses that will allow students to develop both intellectually and ethically. Students learn through a variety of experiences to become sophisticated women who will be actively involved in society. SWU has two graduate schools with 10 departments, and four undergraduate faculties with 12 departments. SWU also offers the "Intensive Japanese Language Program" for nondegree international students who wish to improve their Japanese language skills.

NIHON UNIVERSITY

Since it was founded in 1889, Nihon University has developed students who form the core of Japanese society. The institution is Japan’s largest private comprehensive university with 22 graduate schools, 14 colleges, 87 departments, and a junior college. Under the educational principle of "independent creativity," Nihon is actively engaged in education globally competent people with diverse views by virtue of international academic exchange agreements with 136 universities and institutions all over the world.

SOPHIA UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1913, Sophia University led the move to internationalization in Japan with its educational philosophy: "Men and Women for Others, with Others." Located at the heart of the global city of Tokyo, Sophia is a lively cosmopolitan community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our 9 undergraduate faculties and 10 graduate schools offer a wide range of programs including English-medium programs in liberal arts, science and technology, global studies, global environmental studies, and TESOL.

NAGOYA UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES

Nagoya University of Foreign Studies (NUFS),established in 1998,is a private university with a student population of approximately 3,500. NUFS is renowned as being one of the most internationalized universities in Japan. Its mission is to cultivate internationally minded students who can play a role in a cross-cultural environment. To ensure this, not only do our courses dovetail language and culture with theory and application, but we provide a range of diversified international programs.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO

Founded in 1877, the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) is the oldest national university in Japan. It is a comprehensive research university that engages in education and research at the cutting edge of knowledge across the full range of human endeavor.
More than 40 degree programs in English are provided in most of the graduate schools. UTokyo plans to accelerate international collaboration with a variety of prominent universities and institutions.
