RITSUMEIKAN ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) was founded in 2000 as Japan’s first truly international university by the "Ritsumeikan" educational academy with more than 100 years of history and tradition. APU is the only Japanese university to adopt a fully bilingual education system. English-speaking individuals may enter APU without any prior exposure to the Japanese language. The undergraduate programs are conducted in two colleges:
the College of Asia Pacific Studies and the College of International Management.

SEINAN GAKUIN UNIVERSITY

Seinan Gakuin University is a humanities-focused university with a long history of international exchange and cooperation, actively exchanging students with 46 partner institutions in all over the world. The International Division offers a one- or two-semester program running from August to May the following year. The course content concentrates on Japan, including Japanese language, culture, history, tradition, business, and politics, with all courses except the Japanese language taught in English.

SOKA UNIVERSITY

Soka University was established in 1971 by Daisaku Ikeda, PhD, who works for world peace. Since its foundation, Soka University has organized an enriched education curriculum and support system in accordance with the basic philosophy that "a university where students come first". Our campus is located in Hachioji City, Tokyo, surrounded by abundant nature. Soka places particular importance on international exchange with the support of housing facilities as well as attractive study programs.

SHIBAURA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Founded in 1927, Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) has carried on and maintained a commitment to nurturing practical engineers. At SIT, a wide range of research is conducted in mechanical engineering, electronic/electric engineering, civil engineering, architecture, IT, materials, biosciences, and design engineering. SIT has three colleges with 17 departments, the Graduate School of Engineering (master’sand doctoral programs) and the Specialized Graduate School, with more than 8,000 students.

SOKENDAI THE GRADUATE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDIES

SOKENDAI offers three- and five-year doctoral programs. Both programs provide an ideal educational environment for study and research. Students have access to large-scale experimental and observational equipment as well as special experimental equipment of the Japan’s global leading research institutions. As an international research center, SOKENDAI provides opportunities for daily interaction with numerous research groups. With a favorable staff-to-student ratio (2.5 faculty per student), the program offers a rich educational environment.

SHOWA WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY

Showa Women’s University (SWU) offers a wide range of programs and courses that will allow students to develop both intellectually and ethically. Students learn through a variety of experiences to become sophisticated women who will be actively involved in society. SWU has two graduate schools with 10 departments, and four undergraduate faculties with 12 departments. SWU also offers the "Intensive Japanese Language Program" for nondegree international students who wish to improve their Japanese language skills.

NIHON UNIVERSITY

Since it was founded in 1889, Nihon University has developed students who form the core of Japanese society. The institution is Japan’s largest private comprehensive university with 22 graduate schools, 14 colleges, 87 departments, and a junior college. Under the educational principle of "independent creativity," Nihon is actively engaged in education globally competent people with diverse views by virtue of international academic exchange agreements with 136 universities and institutions all over the world.

SOPHIA UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1913, Sophia University led the move to internationalization in Japan with its educational philosophy: "Men and Women for Others, with Others." Located at the heart of the global city of Tokyo, Sophia is a lively cosmopolitan community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our 9 undergraduate faculties and 10 graduate schools offer a wide range of programs including English-medium programs in liberal arts, science and technology, global studies, global environmental studies, and TESOL.

NAGOYA UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES

Nagoya University of Foreign Studies (NUFS),established in 1998,is a private university with a student population of approximately 3,500. NUFS is renowned as being one of the most internationalized universities in Japan. Its mission is to cultivate internationally minded students who can play a role in a cross-cultural environment. To ensure this, not only do our courses dovetail language and culture with theory and application, but we provide a range of diversified international programs.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO

Founded in 1877, the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) is the oldest national university in Japan. It is a comprehensive research university that engages in education and research at the cutting edge of knowledge across the full range of human endeavor.
More than 40 degree programs in English are provided in most of the graduate schools. UTokyo plans to accelerate international collaboration with a variety of prominent universities and institutions.
